Hello

Geronimo.... One Who Yawns

Did you know...

...that Geronimo, the famous Apache warrior, was given the name Goyathlay (One who yawns), when he was born in 1829? It was only after the slaughter of his family by Mexican troops that he became known as Geronimo. Geronimo was the Spanish version of the name "Jerome". Prior to the attack on his family, Geronimo had been a peaceful Indian, becoming the famous warrior only after the murder of his wife, mother, and three children.

...that Thurgood Marshall, the first black Supreme Court Justice, was the grandson of a slave? His father, William Marshall, taught him to have an appreciation for the United States Constitution and the rule of law.

...that Susan B. Anthony suffered from stage fright? Remembered as a champion of women's rights, famous suffragist and popular lecturer, she sometimes had to grip the podium hard to restrain herself from getting too nervous.

...that Amelia Earhart and her sister Muriel once built a roller coaster in their backyard, with help from friends and family? It was inspired by a vacation to the St. Louis World's Fair.

    Quote of the week...

"It was we, the people; not we, the white male citizens; nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed the Union." - Susan B. Anthony
