My Dream...

My Site Build It (SBI) journal is my story about building a website and will let you see my actual SBI results. Owning my own "sucessful" website has been a dream of mine for several years. But until I found a program that taught me how to do that, my dream was just that.... a dream.

My Site Build It! journal takes you through the building of my latest website, American History Fun Facts. I failed at my last attempt to build an online business, and no matter how hard I worked at it, I could never generate enough traffic to support my website business as a full time venture.

One thing I want to stress... it takes a lot of hard work, a lot of time, passion and a true commitment to build a successful website. Anybody can throw up a website... it takes much more than that to build a successful online business. But anybody can do it! You don't have to be an award winning writer or a computer geek. With the right tools and knowledge (all provided by the program that I used - SBI!), anyone can learn to build a high traffic, successful niche website. You don't have to know html, SEO or anything about building a site before you start. The program walks you through every step, from registering your domain name to submitting to search engines, from picking the best keywords to use to tips on monetizing your website.

My Site Build It journal will recap the success that I am now having, since joining the Site Build It! program. I'll tell you the highs and lows about my journey to build an online business, and let you see why I am so ecstatic to have found SBI! A Big Move...

If you read my "About Me" page, you will know that I recently made a major change in my life... I left the "city" and moved back to my small home town to care for my elderly parents. I no longer had the option of working outside the home, and I needed to find an online business that could eventually support me.

I have been an affiliate for SBI! for a few years, so I knew about the company and always wanted to try it. But until I left my full time job last year, I just never took the plunge. As soon as they started offering the Monthly Plan, I jumped at the chance! I figured I wasn't losing much with the $29.99 per month, and I could cancel at any time, if I just couldn't make it work. I now know that it is worth every single penny... even more! (shhhh...don't tell Ken, the genius behind Site Build It!)

SBI! is not a "get rich quick" scheme... you have to really work at building a website that will keep people coming back for more. They have to enjoy your content before you can ever think about making money from your site. No visitors means no affiliate or product sales - which was exactly the problem I had with my website. Orders would trickle in, but I just never could get the traffic that I needed to make it work. I was active in social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Ning, Stumbleupon and others), but nothing I did ever brought me very much traffic.

Enter my Site Build It! - Where has this BEEN all my life?

All I can say... well, I'll be saying a little more than this, but... WOW! With my Site Build It, I now have all of the tools, resources and training that I need in order to build a successful website! If you don't believe me, let me tell you what my traffic stats were as of April 23rd, 2010...only a month and a half after registering my domain name...

• April 19, 2010 - 221 unique visitors; 327 visits and 585 page views

• April 20, 2010 - 208 unique visitors; 312 visits and 586 page views

• April 21, 2010 - 202 unique visitors; 293 visits and 485 page views

• April 22, 2010 - 200 unique visitors; 282 visits and 488 page views

• April 23, 2010 - 488 unique visitors; 544 visits and 901 page views
  

...A month ago, I was only getting 20-30 visitors per day. My poorly designed jewelry website gets less than 100 visitors per day after 7 YEARS!

July 14, 2010 Update:It appears that April statistics were a little high due to my site being "stumbled" by somebody who uses Stumbleupon alot, and because of that stumble, my site was visited by more people than usual during that month. My May and June stats were down somewhat, but still very impressive for a brand new site (I registered my domain site in March, 2010). I was not able to work on my site much during those two months, but have been working on it quite a bit in July. Here are my monthly stats since my Site Build It website went "live" on March 23, 2010.

You can see that I'm on my way to having a record month in traffic! I predict it will be over 5,000 unique visitors by the end of July. And another thing that I am very happy with is that it looks like my visitors are sticking around to visit other pages in my site (note the "Page Views" number versus the "Unique Visitors" and "Visits" numbers. It also appears that my visitors are returning to my website - and that's a "good thing"! This tells me that I am providing the interesting content that my visitors are looking for, and SBI! taught me how and why this is important.

UPDATE - August 3, 2010 - Well, I didn't quite make 5000 unique visitors for July, but I came very close (4685)! What I am most excited about is the fact that my visits, visitors and page views doubled from June to July! I can't wait to see what happens in August!

UPDATE - December 13, 2010 - A few more great months in September and October, and November was another record month for traffic! Over 12,000 unique visitors to American History Fun Facts! Here is my traffic, as of today, Dec. 13th.

If you watch ABC's "The View", you might have seen the author of Get Rich Click!: The Ultimate Guide to Making Money on the Internet talking about his new book. While I have not yet read his book, it sounds like a great one to give you some ideas for making money online. From what I saw, it looks like he goes through some of the various ways to make money online, such as buying domain names, affiliate sales, product sales, etc. You can get his book on Amazon, if you are interested.
